This is the directorial and screenwriting debut of Australian Novelist Julia Leigh. I first saw the trailer the day the film was announced for Cannes and it left me wanting more. I can only describe it as haunting and a wee bit disturbing. Lets hope the film shows as much promise as its trailer. Sleeping Beauty will be the first competition film to be screened at Cannes this year and I wish it well. Sleeping Beauty... This isn't you fathers fairy tale.
